The importance of brand to our work and those we support

One of my first steps as Chief Executive of The Futures Group over five years ago was to change the company name and give us a more updated look and feel. Since then our work has changed significantly, and whilst our roots in providing careers advice remain, we have grown to do so much more than this. I wanted to create something that I felt proud of and reflected the new reality of who we are.

In recent years, we’ve been supporting vulnerable people with multiple and complex needs, engaging individuals for work and working with other businesses to develop their own workforces. Our old corporate structure had been founded on the needs of a single-mission and was no longer fit for purpose.

Our new corporate structure reflects all those we support, with a strong brand that articulates who we are.

It’s important that our communications and offerings are clear and simple so with this in mind we decided to separate our activities, developing ‘Futures for Business’ and ‘Futures for You’ as names that reflect the different audiences that we address.

A wide range of skills-based training, including Apprenticeships, as well as employment agency solutions are contained within the suite of products available via Futures for Business. The successful retendering of a major Government contract – the National Careers Service, has recently bolstered Futures for You, which also contains a wide range of services to people of all ages to support them with their next career steps.

It’s been an exciting and insightful process we’ve been through to develop our new brand, one of which I’ve relished being personally involved in.
