Account Manager - Skills

  • Salary: £26,500 - £29,750 (Grade 5)
  • Hours: 37 hours, Monday to Friday

  • Location: Home-based with frequent travel around East Midlands including to Futures sites

The Account Manager is pivotal to fulfil the ambitious growth plans of this contract and that of Futures. This role will focus on supporting our recruitment and skills agenda and will drive effective employer engagement and account management activities for the achievement of recruitment, skills engagement and apprenticeship targets. This will include providing advice and guidance on effective employer engagement, providing specialist recruitment knowledge and monitoring against achievement of quality and income targets and ensuring all paperwork and processes are compliant, accurate and completed in a timely manner. Through the project, businesses will look to you to provide impartial advice and support around grants and funding to address current and future skills gaps. You will work with businesses on a one-to-one basis, to scope out skills needs and explore relevant opportunities. These could include sourcing training to upskill existing employees, opportunities to tailor courses to meet specific business needs, providing guidance on recruitment and HR to attract and retain skills and talent, offering support to create apprenticeships, Graduate placements and internships, links to education and training providers to contribute to curriculum design and provide information on relevant skills funding opportunities.

The role will be pivotal to achieve the required outcomes set and will include developing and maintaining relationships with all those involved, learners, employers, recruitment teams, account managers and all other internal teams.

You are required to work with autonomy and high levels of personal motivation with the proven ability to meet targets, work in collaboration with other teams and have the ability to engage and secure new employer clients through a variety of business development approaches.

Previous experience in an account management role is essential as is an interest in the impact that learning and development, recruitment, talent management and the effect workforce planning strategies have on individuals and businesses. You will need to be committed; solution focused and be able to be seen as a positive role model.

Job Specification Requirements 

  • Qualification at Level 4 or above (or willing to work towards)
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills Educated to L2 English ICT & Maths
  • Recent experience of account management and/or business engagement activities.
  • Ability to provide regular reports on your performance in an accurate and timely manner
  • Recent experience of recruitment or business development within the skills arena
  • Experience of initiating and maintaining effective employer relationships within the last 2 years
  • Experience of supporting employers corporate social responsibility policies and/or working with Disability Confident Employers
  • Experienced Account Manager with a proven track record of growing revenues
  • Demonstrable experience of building and delivering an accurate pipeline of activity to achieve challenging targets and KPIs
  • Recent knowledge and experience of the recruitment market, apprenticeship funding and government skills priorities
  • Demonstrable interest or understanding of the impact learning and development on employers
  • Awareness of local, regional and national priorities for employment and skills provision
  • Demonstrate suitability to work with children and vulnerable adults including knowledge/understanding of safeguarding
  • Excellent judgement and the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
  • Possesses a ‘can do’ attitude and approaches challenging situations in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Demonstrable analytical, written and verbal communication skills – including the creation of proposals and presentations to individuals and groups
  • Excellent computer literacy and presentation skills; e.g. proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
